Khadija Diallo is a senior majoring in Strategic Communications at SU. Originally, from Senegal, Khadija moved to Seattle with her family 10 years ago. She says she developed her passion for public service as a teenager, when she volunteered as an algebra tutor at her high school and at her neighborhood library, and co-founded her school’s teen health club.
She continued her volunteer work as a freshman at SU, tutoring math for fourth-graders at SU’s partner elementary school, Bailey-Gatzert. Throughout her college career she has been working at a local medical center as a hearing screener to detect and report newborn hearing loss. She completed a marketing internship at PACCAR Leasing Company this summer and is an officer in the SU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. She has written for the SU Spectator campus newspaper and contributed a Seattle Times op-ed about diversity, opportunity and the Oscars earlier this year (she was one of the youngest writers ever to have an op-ed accepted).
Khadija’s dream is to be a public service attorney someday. Welcome, Khadija!
