AHW 2018 Logo

When Affordable Housing Week 2018 arrives, May 14-18, dozens of cities and a record number of colleges and universities in King County will unite to declare their support for affordable housing. It’s the third annual event, hosted by our partner Housing Development Consortium.  Here’s the proclamation signed by SU President Steven V. Sundborg, S.J.,declaring May 14-18 Affordable Housing Week at Seattle University!

University Partners: We’re pleased to be joined again by Seattle Pacific University, who has again declared Affordable Housing Week on campus, and we welcome for the first time Highline College and University of Washington. Read the joint announcement news release  about why universities are supporting this important effort.

County-Wide Events: Check out the list of events around the county scheduled so far, including the May 14 kickoff, noon at SEIU 775.

SU’s Campus Event: At SU, we’ll host a May 15 screening of a documentary created by our project assistants, “Central Division,” about gentrification in Seattle’s Central District and how the university may play a role. Following the film will be an audience discussion with special guests. Register here.

Our AHW Legacy: We’ve been on board since the beginning; in fact, our then-digital design assistant, Amy Phung, created the logo!  We were joined by Seattle Pacific University last year, and we’re thrilled to announce that for the first time, two more area higher-ed institutions will sign proclamations as well; watch for the announcement May 14.

For a look back at how our campus recognized Affordable Housing Week in previous years, check out this recap by last year’s digital design assistant, Mandy Rusch.
